Recording telehealth sessions can support clinical documentation, supervision, and quality assurance, but it must be done with care to ensure compliance, confidentiality, and client trust.
Note:Recording a session without proper safeguards can lead to serious privacy violations. Always follow these steps:
- Obtain Informed Consent
- Use a written consent form that outlines:
- Purpose of the recording
- Type of recording (audio/video)
- How and where the recording will be stored
- Who will have access and for how long
- The client’s right to withdraw consent at any time
- Customize templates to suit your practice and jurisdiction (e.g., HIPAA in the U.S., PIPEDA in Canada)
Follow these steps below on how to record your telehealth sessions:
Before joining a session:
- Log in to your Upvio account
- Go to 'Settings'
- Select 'Telehealth' under 'Integrations'
- Toggle on 'Enable Telehealth Recordings Transcripts'
- Click 'Save Settings'
During Session:
- Click the 'Record button' below to start recording
- Click the 'Record button' again to stop the recording
Note:
Once the telehealth session is done, it will take approximately 1 minute for the recording to complete.
Where to locate the Telehealth recordings:
Note: Recordings are stored on each patient's record.
