Understanding scan status definitions

This guide defines the 5 specific statuses used to track user progress from the moment the scan link is clicked.

To help you track user progress and troubleshoot issues, every scan record is assigned a specific status. This status tells you exactly how far the user got in the process and whether the scan was completed successfully.

  1. Pending - The user has clicked the link and clicked "Get Started" to access the intake form, but they have not started the face scan yet.
    - Common Scenario: The user is currently filling out their name or the questionnaire.
  2. Started - The user has successfully initiated the face scan, but the process has not yet finished.
    - Common Scenario: The camera is currently active, and the system is capturing data.
  3. Failed - The face scan began but failed to complete because of timeout thresholds. Common causes for failed scans can be found here.
    - Cause: The system could not detect a valid face for 45 seconds (usually due to poor lighting or movement).
    - Result: No data was saved.
  4. Aborted - The scan began, but was interrupted before completion. This happens in two scenarios:
    - User action: The user closed the browser tab or navigated away from the page while the scan was running.
    - System timeout: A scan stuck in the "Started" status for more than 60 minutes (e.g., due to a computer crash) will automatically be marked as Aborted.
  5. Succeeded - The user completed the entire process and the system successfully calculated their health metrics.

Important Note on Missing Metrics: A "Succeeded" status means the scan worked, but it does not guarantee every single metric was captured. If a user skips questions in the pre-scan questionnaire (such as age or weight), certain metrics that rely on that data cannot be calculated and will not appear in the results.
