How to allow camera and microphone access

Giving your browser or device permission to use your camera and microphone is necessary for a successful scan. This guide shows you how to adjust these settings on your specific browser and operating system.

To capture biometric data, Upvio Vitals AI needs to access your hardware. Most of the time, your browser will simply ask for permission via a pop-up, but sometimes you may need to manually enable access in your system settings.

Browser Settings

Chrome

  1. Open the Chrome browser.
  2. Visit the site that needs camera access.
  3. When the pop-up appears, select Allow. You can choose to allow it just for this visit or every time you visit the site.

Edge

  1. Navigate to the website.
  2. When the dialog box appears asking for permission to use your camera or microphone, select Allow.

Opera

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click Advanced in the left sidebar, then Privacy & security.
  3. Under "Privacy and security," click Site settings and then Camera.
  4. Ensure Ask before accessing is turned on.

Safari

  1. Open Safari and go to Settings (or Preferences).
  2. Click the Websites tab at the top.
  3. Select Camera from the left-hand list and set the permission for the website to Allow.

Operating System (OS) Settings

Sometimes your computer's security settings block the browser from using the camera entirely. Here is how to fix that:

Mac (macOS)

  1. Click the Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences).
  2. Click Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
  3. Select Camera from the list.
  4. Find your browser (e.g., Chrome or Safari) in the list and toggle the switch to On.

Windows

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
  2. Make sure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are both turned On.
  3. If you are using a browser, scroll down to Let desktop apps access your camera and ensure that toggle is also turned On.

If the camera isn't starting, check both your browser pop-up permissions and your computer's "Privacy" settings.
